DERIVE: DEvelopmental Research on Interactions between Variants and the Environment

DERIVE is an innovative research venture exploring the fascinating ways in which nature and nurture shape human development. By harnessing the power of team science, DERIVE brings together expertise in genetic and environmental epidemiology, artificial intelligence, computational biology, and maternal, fetal and child health to break down the barriers of traditional research and push the boundaries of what's possible. DERIVE is on a journey to revolutionise our understanding of the developmental origins of health and disease.

ACROSS THE LIFESPAN

DERIVE aims to uncover the etiology and pathogenesis of complex diseases across the lifespan, including adverse pregnancy outcomes, childhood disease and developmental origins of adult-onset disease.

NATURE MEETS NURTURE

DERIVE focuses on the interplay between genetic variants and the environment to understand inter-individual variability in biological responses to environmental exposures.

FROM CELLS TO SOCIETY

DERIVE embraces interdisciplinary research by linking population-based big data analyses with cutting-edge basic laboratory-based bench science to study both correlation and causation.

EQUITABLE SCIENCE

DERIVE's research will be strengthened by the inclusion of sex, gender and other intersecting identify dimensions at all stages of the research process.
